Our Technology

At Meli Orthopedics, we have made significant investments to ensure that our patients receive the best medical care available, through the use of the latest medical technologies. Our focus on state of the art advanced medical technology, will ensure that you receive all of the benefits that modern technology has to offer.

Digital X-Ray

We have recently installed a brand new digital PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) x-ray system. This technology helps us and our patients, by providing: faster x-rays, less radiation (we can adjust images digitally as opposed to re-taking them), easier copies for patients/physicians, physician access world-wide from any computer or operating room, and redundant offsite backup of all the images. This system also is part of our new paperless office with fully electronic medical records.

EMG

Electromyography EMG machineElectromyography (EMG) is a technique for evaluating and recording the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles. EMG is performed using an instrument called an electromyograph, to produce a record called an electromyogram. An electromyograph detects the electrical potential generated by muscle cells. When these cells are electrically or neurologically activated, the signals can be analyzed to detect medical abnormalities, activation level, and recruitment order or to analyze the biomechanics of human movement.

At Meli Orthopedics, we have an EMG machine in our office to assist in the rapid diagnosis of various musculoskeletal abnormalities. This negates the need to refer our patients to other facilities and physicians, which speeds up your diagnosis and treatment options and therefore allows our patients to return their normal lifestyles as quickly as possible.

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Electronic Medical RecordsThe federal government has strongly suggested that all physicians adopt electronic medical records within the next decade. Meli Orthopedics is already transitioning to EMR. The advantages of electronic medical records are numerous: more accurate and complete documentation of a patient's illness, faster communication to your primary care physician and messaging within our office, easier ability to make copies of your medical record for you or your insurance company, improved cross-checking of your allergies when prescribing medications, better portability of your medical information if you move, and more.
